Minutes of Littleton Water and Light Meetings

The Board meets on the first and third Monday of each month. Meetings begin at 1:00 p.m. and are held in the department conference room at 65 Lafayette Ave, Littleton. Board meetings are open to the public and time is allotted for public comments at each meeting.

Regular Meeting Oct 18, 2010

The regularly scheduled Board of Commissioners (BOC) meeting began at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2010 in the Littleton Water and Light Department (LWL) conference room. Present were Commissioner Eddy Moore, Commissioner Perry Goodell and Commissioner Ralph Ross, Financial Services Director Cheryl Wilkins, Operations Manager Richard Herrington and Administrative Assistant Sharon Hampson.

MINUTES REVIEW:

The minutes of October 4, 2010 regularly scheduled Commissioners meeting were reviewed. Commissioner Goodell made a motion to accept the minutes as presented, seconded by Commissioner Ross.

The vote was in favor 3-0-0.

CUSTOMER CONCERNS:

Mrs. Wilkins informed the BOC of a conversation that she had with Stephanie Eaton. Mrs. Wilkins explained to Ms. Eaton that LWL was not grant eligible under the USDA-RD program and LWL would explore funding through the NHDES State Revolving Fund for the Oak Hill reservoir replacement project.


OPERATIONS MANAGER REPORT:

Mr. Herrington stated that in 2013 all of our communication equipment will be required to operate at a lower band frequency. The town departments are looking into grants to possibly consolidate a purchase. Mr. Herrington asked the BOC if they wanted the department to pursue the matter and they felt that we should. Mr. Herrington will attend Friday’s meeting.

Mr. Herrington explained routine water samples that are taken monthly, one came back positive for chloroform. Resamples have been taken and have come back good. Also, LWL had to do a trigger sample required by the State at the Brickyard well this morning. The results of the test will determine what if anything we have to do next.

Commissioner Ross asked if the West Side Substation transformer was on line.
Mr. Herrington stated that it was, however today it was shut down to modify some brackets issues, but will be back on line tomorrow.

FINANCIAL DIRECTORS REPORT:

Mrs. Wilkins explained that there is a training scheduled for next Tuesday, October 26th
for the new postage machine and requested the office to be closed from
9:00am-1:00pm. The BOC agreed to close for training.

Mrs. Hampson explained that she requested new 911 numbers for LWL substations and water tower locations, which were received from the town today.

OLD BUSINESS:

Mr. Herrington provided Commissioner Moore with a letter, which he requested, regarding residential water connection fees.

Commissioner Ross asked about the CFTC exemption request. Mrs. Wilkins stated it has been filed.

NEW BUSINESS:

Mr. Herrington informed the BOC that he sent a letter to Bob Green at the Littleton High School reminding him that the old water lines at 110 School Street and 140 High Street need to be disconnected before winter.


ADJOURNMENT:

Commissioner Goodell made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by
Commissioner Ross.

The vote was in favor 3-0-0.

Meeting adjourned at 1:35 p.m.

The regularly scheduled Commissioner’s meeting is held twice monthly on the first and third Monday, at 1:00 p.m., in the Department’s conference room.
